Panevėžys remain without a win in the Toplyga after conceding in stoppage time to draw 1-1 with Hegelmann at home.
The hosts started well and almost took the lead inside the opening minute, but Hegelmann goalkeeper Lukas Paukštė saved an effort from Ernestas Burdzilauskas. At the other end, Vytautas Černiauskas dealt with two attempts from Kader Njoya Abdel, before Panevėžys went close again when Edvin Muratovič sent a shot just wide.
Panevėžys did take the lead in the dying minutes of the first half as Rokas Rasimavičius’ ball into the penalty area ended up in the net, with Paukštė having earlier denied Oleksandr Kurtsev twice. After the break Černiauskas kept out Carlos Duke and pushed away an effort from Domantas Slendzoka, while Burdzilauskas struck the crossbar and Salomon Kouadio came close as Panevėžys pressed for a second.
Kouadio’s introduction lifted the home side and Ernestas Veliulis made his first appearance of the season after recovering from injury, but the decisive moment came late. A Panevėžys mistake in the box was followed by Njoya Abdel rattling the woodwork, and after the hosts failed to make a counter-attack count, Njoya Abdel struck the equaliser.
Panevėžys still had time for one more chance, but Paukštė saved Burdzilauskas’ shot in the final attack. Panevėžys return to action in round four on Tuesday, 10th OG March, away to Kauno Žalgiris with kick-off at 18:45.
