FK Kauno Žalgiris has suffered an early setback in their preparations for the 2025 season, as one of their key players will be sidelined for a long period.
Oyinlola Kayode, who had a breakthrough season last year, underwent knee surgery in early February.
The 22-year-old midfielder sustained a serious knee injury during the team’s first friendly match of the year against Panevėžys, ruling him out for the entire 2025 season.
His surgery was performed by orthopedic surgeon Prof. Rimtautas Gudas at “Gijos Klinikos” in Kaunas.
Last season, Kayode established himself as a key player for FK Kauno Žalgiris in the TOPsport A Lyga, scoring 2 goals and providing 4 assists. He also added 1 goal in the LFF Cup tournament.
