# Offside lines to be used in Estonian Cup match for first time
Video assistant referees will use offside lines for the first time in a domestic Estonian match when Flora meet Kalev U21 in the Evald Tipner Cup round of 32 on Thursday, 29th October. Kick-off at Sportland Arena is at 19:00 local time.

VAR was introduced in Estonia in early 2023, with a simplified system first used in the Premium liiga. It allows officials to view several live camera angles, zoom in on incidents and watch replays at normal speed or in slow motion.

The cup tie will test the next stage of the technology. Ain Alev, the Estonian Football Association’s referee education manager, said offside lines were a logical development. He added that provider VOGO had developed the system and that GPS measurements had been taken at A. Le Coq Arena and Sportland Arena. The trial will assess whether the technology is ready for permanent use in the Premium liiga and cup matches.
