FCI Levadia Tallinn, runners-up in the Estonian Premium Liiga this season, have officially announced that Spanish specialist Curro Torres will no longer continue as head coach of the club. His assistant, Jose Soto, will also depart the team.
The 48-year-old Spaniard took charge of Levadia ahead of the 2023 season and went on to enjoy an extremely successful period in Estonian football. Over three seasons, Torres guided the club to every domestic title available – the Premium Liiga, the Estonian Cup and the Estonian Super Cup.
This season, however, Levadia were forced to settle for second place in the league, finishing behind chief rivals FC Flora Tallinn. Their European campaign also ended in disappointment, with elimination from the UEFA Conference League in the third qualifying round against Luxembourg side Differdange.
In a message shared on the club’s official Facebook page, Torres described his departure as emotional and deeply personal. He expressed gratitude to his players, staff and club leadership, calling his time in Tallinn “three years of life, growth and deep emotions.”
“I close a chapter that has meant much more than work and football,” Torres said, adding that the club will “always be a part of me.”
He also praised his squad for their commitment and unity, stating that they were “the engine of my everyday life” and thanked the club’s sporting directors and employees for their constant support and belief in him.
In these three seasons across all competitions, Torres coached Levadia in 133 matches, winning 88 and losing just 22 of them.
Assistant coach Jose Soto, who worked closely with Torres throughout his time in Estonia, will also leave as part of the coaching change.
