Norway’s head coach Ståle Solbakken has called up a 25-man squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifying matches against Italy and Estonia. The team’s biggest stars are present as expected, with Manchester City goal-scoring machine Erling Haaland and Arsenal playmaker Martin Ødegaard both included.
Also on the list is Atlético Madrid striker Alexander Sørloth, who recently set a record for the fastest hat-trick in La Liga history — scoring his first and third goals against Real Sociedad within just 3 minutes and 57 seconds.
Returning from injury is Haaland’s Manchester City teammate, 21-year-old Oscar Bobb, although Solbakken notes that Bobb is not yet ready for a full 90-minute outing.
The squad features 15 players from Europe’s top five leagues and four from Norway’s domestic league, including Bodø/Glimt’s Gundersen and Berg, who helped the club reach the UEFA Europa League semifinal, where they fell to eventual champions Tottenham.
Norway began their World Cup qualifying campaign strongly with two wins — a 5-0 victory over Moldova and a 4-2 win against Israel. Next up, they face Italy at home on June 6 before traveling to Tallinn’s A. Le Coq Arena to play Estonia on June 9.
