The new Estonian futsal season is set to begin in October, with eight clubs competing for the national championship title. The opening round will be played on the weekend of 10–11 October.
“The calendar is set, and we are pleased to start the season with eight teams. There are both new arrivals and familiar faces, and we hope for a competitive and exciting season,” said Teet Allas, the Estonian Football Association’s futsal technical director.
Defending champions Tallinna FC Bunker Partner will once again lead the field. Returning from last year are Narva United FC, Tartu Ravens Futsal, Saku Sporting and Rummu Dünamo. A new joint team, Silla FC Phoenix, has been formed through the merger of Sillamäe Silla FC and Jõhvi FC Phoenix, both of whom finished mid-table last season. Tartu FC Inter have been promoted from the second tier, while newcomers Tallinna FC Qarabag also join the competition.
Missing from this year’s line-up is last season’s third-placed Kopli Coolbet, who finished fourth in the playoffs but will not take part in the upcoming campaign.
The league season will be played in a double round-robin format, with home and away matches, followed by knockout playoffs including quarter-finals, semi-finals, a third-place match and the final. The playoff stage will begin at the end of February, and all games will be streamed live on the Estonian FA website.
Before the league kicks off, the first silverware of the season will be contested on Sunday, 5 October, when Tallinna FC Bunker Partner face Tartu Ravens Futsal in the Super Cup final at the EMÜ Sports Hall in Tartu. Kick-off is at 17:00, with tickets priced at €3 via the Estonian FA website and Piletilevi. Entry is free for children born in 2015 or later. The match will also be streamed live on jalgpall.ee.
