JK Narva Trans claimed their second win of the Premium Liiga season with a convincing 3-0 home victory over Tartu JK Tammeka, as Nigerian forward Ahmad Gero scored twice in an eventful contest that was overshadowed by a serious injury to Mark Maksimkin.

The evening started perfectly for the hosts. Just four minutes into the match, Trans took the lead from a set piece. After a short corner routine, Denis Poliakov received the ball again and delivered a cross into the box, where Gero rose to head past Richard Aland and make it 1-0.

Narva began with more energy and control, but Tammeka gradually grew into the game and created several promising opportunities of their own. Tristan Koskor forced a strong save from Daniil Pareiko from close range, while Pavel Marin was also denied in a one-on-one situation as Tammeka threatened an equaliser.

Despite those openings, the visitors were let down by poor finishing, and Narva made them pay again just before halftime. In the 44th minute, Josue Doke found Gero making a run on the right side of the box, and the Nigerian forward finished from a relatively tight angle to double Trans’ advantage.

The end of the first half then brought a far more serious moment. Maksimkin went down in visible pain after a collision and was unable to continue. The injury appeared severe, with reports during the match indicating a badly dislocated ankle or broken bone. He eventually had to leave the field on a stretcher, and the incident cast a shadow over Narva’s strong first-half display.

After the break, Tammeka still had a chance to get back into the match. They struck the crossbar and continued to search for a route back, but Narva gradually regained control.

The decisive third goal came in the 61st minute. A free-kick delivery into the penalty area was flicked on, and Canadian centre-back Cristian Campagna was left with the simple task of finishing from close range to make it 3-0.

From that point, Tammeka looked increasingly deflated. Narva were more composed, more physical, and sharper in both boxes, while the visitors’ attacking play continued to lack precision. Gero came close to completing his hat-trick, dragging one effort just wide of the top corner, before eventually being substituted to applause after a match-winning display.

Tammeka were handed one final chance to salvage at least a consolation goal late on when they won a penalty. However, Pareiko capped off his excellent evening by saving Patrick Veelma’s spot kick with authority.

That stop summed up Narva’s night. They were clinical in front of goal, strong in key moments, and backed by a standout display from their goalkeeper when it mattered most.

In the end, Trans ran out deserved 3-0 winners, securing their second victory of the campaign. But while the result was emphatic, the celebrations were inevitably tempered by concern over Maksimkin’s injury.
