Narva Trans coach Roman Kozhukhovskyi said his side’s 3-0 Premium liiga win over Tartu JK Tammeka was overshadowed by what he described as a serious injury to captain Mark Maksimkin.
Trans made it two league victories for the season at Kalev-Fama artificial pitch, but Kožuhhovski indicated the 23-year-old may not play again in 2026. “I think his matches for this season are played,” he said after the final whistle.
The injury occurred in stoppage time of the first half, when Maksimkin broke towards goal and was caught by a late challenge from Pedro Manoel just outside the penalty area. Moments later, referee Juri Frischer blew for half-time as Trans players immediately rushed to their captain’s aid.
Josue Doke was first to reach Maksimkin and quickly called for medical assistance, while Denis Polyakov stayed by his side trying to comfort him. An ambulance was brought onto the pitch, and Maksimkin was taken away on a stretcher after sustaining what appeared to be a serious ankle injury.
Despite the severity of the incident, Manoel was not shown a card. Trans president Nikolai Burdakov reacted angrily from the sidelines and was sent off for his protests.
“Despite the convincing win, this match leaves us with sad thoughts, because the health of our player and captain is the most important,” Kozhukhovskyi said.
“Of course, we are worried about him. It looks like a very serious injury. I don’t want to rush into a diagnosis – that is for the doctors – but it did look like a fracture.”
