Clubs represented by Estonia national team players experienced contrasting outcomes in the Scottish Premiership. Defender Michael Schjönning-Larsen completed his first full match for Kilmarnock, helping his side secure an emphatic home win over Aberdeen. Meanwhile, forward Alex Tamm featured off the bench as Livingston fell to defeat against Motherwell.
Estonia international full-back Schjönning-Larsen made his third appearance for Kilmarnock since joining the club and marked the occasion by playing the full 90 minutes for the first time. The 25-year-old delivered an energetic display, registering two shots on target over the course of the match.
Kilmarnock, who have been battling near the bottom of the table, entered the fixture still searching for their first league win of the year and their first victory overall since October 4. They laid strong foundations early, scoring twice within the opening minutes of the first half to seize control of the contest.
Aberdeen’s task became even more difficult after receiving a straight red card in the second half, effectively ending their hopes of mounting a comeback. Kilmarnock added a third goal to complete a convincing 3-0 victory, finally ending a 16-match league winless run.
Schjönning-Larsen has now made four league appearances and one cup appearance for his new club. With 17 points from 24 matches, Kilmarnock have closed the gap on the teams above them and now trail 10th-placed St. Mirren by just three points. Their next test comes on Wednesday, when they face a demanding away trip against Rangers.
Elsewhere, Livingston’s difficult league campaign continued with a 0-2 home defeat to Motherwell. Estonian striker Alex Tamm was introduced in the 77th minute with the score already at 0-2 but was unable to register a shot on goal during his time on the pitch.
Livingston’s winless streak in league competition has now stretched to 22 consecutive matches, with their last victory coming back in August against Falkirk in the Matchday 2. Since joining on loan from Slovenian side Olimpija Ljubljana, the 24-year-old Tamm has made four appearances, all as a late substitute, and is still searching for his first start and first goal in Scottish football.
Livingston remain rooted to the bottom of the table, six points behind second-bottom Kilmarnock. They will look to finally end their long winless run on Wednesday, when they host Falkirk – the last opponent they defeated in league action.
