Bottom-placed JK Tallinna Kalev has strengthened its squad by registering 24-year-old midfielder Daniil Petrunin ahead of their upcoming fixtures in the Premium Liiga.
Petrunin’s football journey began with Levadia, where he made his league debut in 2020, coming on as a late substitute in a 2-0 win. The following season, he spent valuable time on loan at Viljandi Tulevik, featuring in 24 league matches and gaining crucial top-flight experience.
In 2022, after a successful trial, Petrunin joined Tallinna Kalev, playing 23 league games, scoring twice, and assisting once. His career then took an international turn, with spells in Spain and the Maldives. Notably, while playing for Club Eagles in the Maldives’ top division, he helped the team claim a silver medal.
Last year, Petrunin returned to Estonia briefly, turning out for Tallinna Starmedia in the third tier, where he made six appearances and scored once. This spring, he also had a stint in Norway’s fifth division with Örsta before making his way back to Kalev.
Tallinna Kalev currently sits at the bottom of the league with 13 points from 21 matches. Their season continues today at the Kadriorg Stadium, where they will host sixth-placed Pärnu Vaprus.
