The 2026 Lithuanian Women’s A Lyga season began with 10 goals across the opening three matches as MFA Žalgiris, Gintra and Žalgiris all started their campaigns with victories.
TransINVEST had no fixture in the first round, leaving the other six clubs to begin their campaigns. The three front runner clubs won without conceding, while Kauno rajono FA, FA Šiauliai and Banga all failed to score on the opening weekend.
MFA Žalgiris produced the biggest margin of victory, winning 4-0 away to Kauno rajono FA. Olamide Sandra Adugbe scored the league’s first goal of the season in the 10th minute after the visitors forced an error high up the pitch. Bunmi Elizabeth David added a second soon after, finishing a move created down the left by Atėnė Streckytė and involving Goda Smailytė. Adugbe struck again later in the first half after another defensive mistake, before Erika Šupelytė marked her return to the club with the fourth and final goal.
In Šiauliai, defending champions Gintra beat FA Šiauliai 3-0 in the local derby. Khrystyna Pereviznyk opened the scoring after half an hour with a long-range effort into the top corner from about 25 metres. Lidiane Ribeiro made it 2-0 midway through the second half after a loose-ball scramble in the penalty area, and Pereviznyk added her second late on after being picked out by Julia Dias de Souza.
Žalgiris also won 3-0, beating Banga with a first-half rout. Agata Marija Kairytė put the hosts in front after Irina Topal’s delivery caused problems in the box. Valerija Postol then doubled the lead with a powerful strike from distance, before Karina Klevinskaitė converted a penalty awarded for a foul on Postol just before the break.
After the opening round, Pereviznyk and Adugbe sit atop of the scoring charts with two goals each. In round two, TransINVEST will begin their season against Gintra, Kauno rajono FA will host Žalgiris, and FA Šiauliai will face Banga.
