Estonian media outlet Õhtuleht reports that FCI Levadia Tallinn is set to name Vjatšeslav Zahovaiko as their new head coach in the coming days.
The Premium Liiga runners-up confirmed earlier today that Spanish specialist Curro Torres would no longer lead the team after three years in charge. During his tenure, Torres won every possible domestic trophy with Levadia, but the 2025 season proved challenging. The club narrowly missed out on the league title to rivals FC Flora Tallinn and suffered a disappointing European exit against Luxembourg’s Differdange.
Just hours after Torres’ departure was announced, Õhtuleht reported that 43-year-old Estonian coach Zahovaiko would take over. This season, Zahovaiko has been working within the Levadia system with the U-17 squad.
Previously, Zahovaiko spent five seasons (2017–2021) as a Paide Linnameeskond manager In the summer of 2022, he took on a new challenge in Gambia, leading Paide’s partner club Real de Banjul as head coach for nearly a year and winning the Gambian league title.
Speaking to Estonian media soccernet.ee after Torres’ departure, Levadia president Viktor Levada admitted the season had been disappointing. He also confirmed plans for a club reorganization, bringing in “fresh blood” to rejuvenate the squad.
