According to reports from Soccernet.ee, Estonian international Michael Schjönning-Larsen will leave FCI Levadia this winter when his contract expires, with the left-back preparing to test himself abroad after three successful years in Tallinn.
The 24-year-old defender has been a reliable presence on the left flank for Levadia, amassing 102 appearances, scoring six goals, and collecting both a league title and a domestic cup during his time at the club. This season, he remains a key figure in the squad, featuring in 22 league matches, contributing one goal and six assists, as Levadia push for another Premium Liiga crown.
Born and raised in Denmark, Schjönning-Larsen’s football journey is nothing short of inspiring. At just 16, after a string of painful rejections from clubs, he was ready to quit the game altogether. For three months, he stayed away from football – until, on his 17th birthday in 2018, he received a life-changing phone call. Estonian coach Norbert Hurt invited him to join FC Flora, pulling him back into the sport and setting him on the path to professional success.
Now, six years later, that persistence is paying off. According to Soccernet.ee, an unknown Scottish Premiership club is showing strong interest in the left-back. Levadia reportedly turned down offers in the summer, unwilling to part with a defensive mainstay ahead of crucial European fixtures and the domestic title race. But with his contract expiring in winter, Schjönning-Larsen will be free to move on as a free agent.
On the international stage, the full-back has already earned 12 caps for Estonia.
