According to Tipsbladet journalist Farzam Abolhosseini, Latvian international Kristaps Grabovskis — who received his first national team call-up in the June window — is close to joining Danish second-tier club B.93.

The 20-year-old winger, who is also capable of playing as a central midfielder, signed with Austrian side Rapid Wien two years ago. While he spent most of his time with their U18 squad, he also featured in a few matches for Rapid’s second team.

Last summer, in search of first-team experience and to get regular minutes in senior football, Grabovskis was loaned to his boyhood club FK Metta — a team he originally left in 2021 to join Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig’s youth setup. During the 2023 season, Grabovskis made 10 appearances in the Latvian Virslīga, scoring twice and providing one assist. So far this year, he has matched that tally with two goals and one assist in 19 appearances.

Grabovskis’ contract with Rapid Wien is set to expire on June 30, and up until recently, his future remained uncertain. However, it now appears that a move is imminent. As a free agent, he is expected to join B.93 — officially Boldklubben af 1893 — a club that has already begun its preparations for the upcoming Danish 1st Division season, which kicks off in mid-July.

Last season, B.93 finished ninth in a 12-team league. The historic Copenhagen-based club last played in the Danish top flight during the 1998–99 season.

According to Tipsbladet, Kristaps Grabovskis is scheduled to undergo his medical on Monday.
