Estonian international Mattias Käit has been left out of Rapid Bucharest’s squad list for the new season. The Romanian top-tier side introduced their updated roster via social media, but Käit’s name was noticeably missing — a move that confirms earlier speculation from local media that the midfielder is not part of head coach Constantin Gâlcă’s plans.

Käit confirmed the news directly to Soccernet.ee, stating: “At the moment, I’m still under contract with Rapid, but yes, as was reported, the coach is not counting on me.”

Despite the uncertainty surrounding his immediate future, Käit remains active in Bucharest. “I’m not really on holiday. I’ve been working out here with both the club’s fitness staff and a personal trainer to stay in shape,” the 27-year-old midfielder explained. “This week, I’ve been doing sessions with a private trainer.”

While Käit was absent from the squad, Rapid Bucharest began their Romanian Superliga campaign today with a 2–0 victory over FC Argeș.

Käit also hinted at an impending move. While remaining tight-lipped about potential destinations, he told Soccernet.ee that negotiations are ongoing. “I can’t reveal anything yet. Ideally, we’d like to have things sorted by next week. I’d like to think there’s no reason to worry.”

The Tallinn-born midfielder joined Rapid in early 2022 from Norwegian champions Bodø/Glimt and quickly became a regular fixture in the squad, amassing 107 appearances. Käit contributed six goals and seven assists during his time in Romania. He previously played in the Fulham FC academy system, with Scottish Premiership side Ross County, and Slovenian top-flight club NK Domžale.
