In Norway’s second tier, Lūkass Vapne and his Sogndal IL side endured a tough 1-5 home defeat against league leaders Lillestrøm.

The 22-year-old midfielder started once again following the international break, facing a difficult challenge as Sogndal welcomed the league’s top team. The first meeting between these clubs in June ended in a goalless draw, but today Lillestrøm were clinical, scoring five goals from five shots on target.

After a 1-1 scoreline at halftime, the visitors laid the foundation for their victory in the first four minutes of the second half, scoring two quick goals. They added another two strikes later to secure a dominant 5-1 win.

Vapne played 67 minutes before being substituted with the score at 1-4. This season, he has made 22 appearances, scoring four goals and providing three assists. Sogndal drops from third to fifth place following the defeat, sitting six points behind second-place Start with eight games remaining. The top two teams earn automatic promotion to the Norwegian Eliteserien next season.

Sogndal and Vapne will look to bounce back next Sunday, traveling to face table neighbors Lyn, who trail Sogndal by just three points.
