Lohmatov changes Italy for Slovakia

Slovak second-tier club FK Pohronie have announced the signing of Estonian youth international midfielder Aleksandr Lohmatov.

The 19-year-old has spent the past three years in Italy, developing within the systems of Torino and Frosinone. During the first half of the current season, Lohmatov featured for Frosinone’s U-20 side in the Primavera 1, making 18 appearances.

Lohmatov has represented Estonia at U-19 level, earning 16 caps. Prior to moving to Italy, he developed in Estonia with Tallinna Ararat. Born in Narva, he also gained senior experience during the 2024/25 season while on loan at Italian Serie D side Sanremese Calcio, where he made 24 appearances.

Pohronie are currently in their fourth consecutive season in Slovakia’s second division, following a three-season spell in the top flight. Founded in 2012, the club is competing in the 2. Liga and sits third in the table with 27 points after 17 matches.

League leaders Banská Bystrica have built an 18-point lead over Pohronie. The battle for the remaining promotion place remains tight, with the gap between second place and 11th just eight points. just eight points.

The Slovak second division is scheduled to resume in early March following the winter break.
