Lithuania’s top domestic football competition will enter the 2026 season under a new name, as the A Lyga has officially been rebranded as TOPLYGA. The change was announced alongside the presentation of a new logo and broader plans to raise organisational and commercial standards across the league.

The new TOPLYGA identity is built around a refreshed visual concept, with a logo inspired by a dynamic interpretation of a football star. According to league representatives, the design reflects a balance between structure and emotion, organisation and action.

TOPLYGA president Gintaras Staniulis, who is beginning his third season in the role, said the rebranding is intended to mark a qualitative step forward for the championship as a whole.

The TOPLYGA name reflects our ambition to raise standards across the board. This is not only about clubs competing at the highest level and showcasing the best Lithuanian footballers, but also about the league organisation itself setting the highest goals. That has to be visible both on the pitch and off it – in management and organisation,” Staniulis said.

The upcoming season will carry the slogan “Time for football”, aimed at encouraging supporters to return to stadiums and re-engage with domestic football. League officials say the rebrand is also meant to signal a new phase focused on credibility, growth and stronger ties with fans. TOPLYGA director Vaidotas Zajarskas emphasised that improving the matchday and viewing experience is one of the league’s main priorities going forward.

Our aim is to modernise the fan experience so that Lithuanian football meets contemporary entertainment standards. Accessibility is key – matches must be easier to find, watch and follow. At the same time, we want to offer more content, more behind-the-scenes access and more engagement, both digitally and in stadiums,” Zajarskas said.

Further announcements related to the league’s future are expected on February 17th, when TOPLYGA will unveil its new official broadcaster, as well as new sponsors and partners, during a live presentation.

The 2026 Lithuanian football season will begin with the LFF Super Cup between national champions Kauno Žalgiris and LFF Cup winners Panevėžys. It is scheduled for February 16th at the Marijampolė Football Arena at 15:00.
