The Lithuanian Futsal Association (LSFA) has confirmed key decisions for the upcoming 2025–26 futsal season, following a board meeting on August 6. The league participants, competition schedule, Super Cup format, and a long-term strategic plan have all been approved.

“Last season was exceptionally successful – full of surprises, intrigue, and a title race that remained unpredictable until the final moments. We want this season to maintain the same intensity and quality we saw last year,” said LSFA director Karolis Dieninis.

As in 2024–25, nine teams will compete in the Futsal A Lyga under the same championship format. Eight clubs return from last season: Kauno Žalgiris, Vikingai, Bruklinas, Gargždų Pramogos, Akmenės Kraštas, VIP, Radviliškis and Kėdainiai United. They will be joined by Vilnius Futsal, who replace VGTU Vilkai.

The 2025–26 league season will kick off on the weekend of September 27–28, while the Lithuanian Futsal Cup final four will be staged on February 21–22, 2026. Meanwhile, the LFF Futsal Super Cup will once again open the campaign, with Jonava Arena hosting the tournament on September 13–14. The competition will feature the top four sides from last season and will be played in this format for the third year running.

Organisers have also had to take into account a unique circumstance: the UEFA Futsal EURO 2026, which will be held in January with Lithuania’s national team among the participants. “It is a great achievement for Lithuanian futsal, but at the same time an organisational challenge, requiring careful coordination of the domestic calendar with the national team’s preparations and the tournament itself,” Dieninis noted.

In addition to the competition decisions, the board also approved the LSFA’s strategic plan for 2025–2029. Developed in cooperation with the Lithuanian futsal community and the LFF’s futsal working group, the plan will be presented to the LFF Executive Committee before being made publicly available.
