FK Panevėžys has announced the retirement of local club legend Linas Klimavičius. The 36-year-old centre-back will remain with the club in a new role, which is set to be announced in the coming days.

Klimavičius joined Panevėžys in 2022 and spent four seasons with his hometown club. During that period, he won the Lithuanian championship in 2023, lifted the Super Cup in 2024, and added the LFF Cup in 2025. He is one of the few Lithuanian players to have claimed all three major domestic trophies with two different clubs.

Across all competitions, Klimavičius made 121 appearances for Panevėžys, scoring eight goals and registering three assists in the A Lyga. His tally includes 102 A Lyga matches, four appearances in the LFF Cup, 14 games in European competition, and one Super Cup appearance.

I want to sincerely thank my beloved FK Panevėžys for four unforgettable seasons,” Klimavičius said. “Each year had its own meaning. There were many emotions, pride in my city, the supporters, and the team. It was a great honour to captain the side and lift all possible domestic trophies in such a short time. Moments like the 2023 season will stay with me forever. I am happy that my playing career ended at my home stadium. Now it is time for new challenges in life.

He also wished the team success in the upcoming season and encouraged supporters to continue backing the club.

FK Panevėžys thanked their captain for his professionalism, leadership, and lasting contribution both on and off the pitch.
