# Liepāja beat Jelgava 3-0 to strengthen European push
Liepāja moved four points clear of the Virsliga’s nearest challengers for European qualification with a 3-0 home win over Jelgava on Sunday. Andriy Korobenko, Abiodun Ogunniyi and Ede Oloko scored in the 33rd-round match.

Korobenko opened the scoring in the 12th minute, meeting Leonel Strumija’s pass and finding the far corner with his left foot. Danila Patijčuks nearly doubled the lead soon afterwards, but Alan Kangars cleared his effort off the line.

Ogunniyi made it 2-0 in the 59th minute with a left-footed strike from the right side of the penalty area. Oloko added a third seven minutes later, scoring his 28th league goal of the season.

Ogunniyi had a chance to claim another late on, but Kangars again cleared the ball from the goal-line. Liepāja kept a clean sheet to secure a win that leaves them fourth on 46 points, four ahead of fifth-placed Daugavpils.
