**Licensing process for the next season of Lithuanian top flight has begun, with 11 clubs submitting their applications.**

Of these 11, ten clubs are the ones with a place in the top tier on sporting merit plus the second tier Be1 from Jonava, who [fell just short of securing promotion](https://balticfootballnews.com/?p=2538 "FK Sūduva survive relegation play-offs") via playoffs in a tie against [FK Sūduva](https://balticfootballnews.com/?page_id=2522 "FK Sūduva Marijampolė") from Marijampole. The 11 sides that applied for A Lyga license are:

- [FK Žalgiris](https://balticfootballnews.com/?page_id=2364 "FK Žalgiris")

- [Džiugas](https://balticfootballnews.com/?page_id=2424 "FC Džiugas Telšiai")

- [Riteriai](https://balticfootballnews.com/?page_id=2768 "FK Riteriai")
- Be1

Licensing commission will announce their decisions on 5th February 2025, after which point clubs will be either rejected a license, granted a license, or conditionally granted a license. In the event of the latter, clubs that fell short on some criteria but not others will be given additional time to address the issues of the Lithuanian Football Federation. Should any one of the first ten clubs fail to secure a license, their participation will be revoked and the 11th club – Be1 – will be granted their spot in the top division, assuming that they meet the criteria for a license themselves.
