FCI Levadia Tallinn ended their two-match winless run with a 2-1 home victory over Pärnu JK Vaprus, although the result came with more tension than the hosts would have liked.

Levadia started the match as expected, taking control of possession early and pushing Vaprus deep into their own half. The home side relied heavily on deliveries into the penalty area and nearly found the breakthrough on several occasions in the first half, with Tambedou proving a constant threat.

Tambedou went close more than once, first dragging an effort wide and later striking the post from a tight angle after a sharp attacking move. Levadia’s pressure finally told in the 38th minute, when Maksimilian Skvortsov scored his third goal of the season in spectacular fashion. After Mathias Villota fouled Tambedou just outside the box, the 18-year-old stepped up and curled the resulting free-kick in off the post to give Levadia a deserved lead.

The home side remained in control for much of the first half, but Vaprus returned after the break with a more aggressive approach and greater confidence on the ball. Their improvement paid off in the 57th minute. After a VAR review, referee awarded the visitors a penalty for handball against Abraham Nwankwo, and Vaprus side were handed a route back into the game. Henri Välja stepped up and, despite Karl Vallner getting a hand to the ball, managed to squeeze the spot-kick into the net to make it 1-1.

Levadia responded well to the setback and nearly restored their advantage soon after, but Tambedou wasted a clear one-on-one chance when he fired straight at the goalkeeper. The striker remained heavily involved, though, and in the 68th minute the hosts found the winner. A corner from Skvortsov was only partially dealt with, and the ball eventually reached Tambedou, who drilled a low shot into the net to make it 2-1.

Vaprus were still not done. The visitors pushed in the closing stages and came agonisingly close to an equaliser deep into stoppage time, when captain Magnus Villota met a cross from Aloe but headed wide from close range in what was their best chance to steal a point. That miss ensured Levadia held on for all three points.
