Sunday’s Premium Liiga action kicked off at A. Le Coq Arena, where title contenders and defending champions FCI Levadia secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Tartu Tammeka.
This was the fourth meeting between the two sides this season. Levadia had won twice before, while their previous encounter in September ended 2-2 in Tartu, when Levadia twice squandered the lead.
This time, however, there were no slip-ups. Summer signing Wendell starred for Levadia, netting twice in the first half – in the 15th and 44th minutes – to put his team firmly in control. Mihkel Ainsalu added a third soon after the restart, sealing a convincing win that keeps Levadia firmly in the title race.
Levadia will next face Flora’s reserve team in the Estonian Cup during the international break before resuming league play with an away trip to Kuressaare. Tammeka, still searching for consistency, travel to Paide Linnameeskond in two weeks’ time.
The win keeps Levadia locked on equal points with league leaders Flora, though Flora remain on top due to a better head-to-head record. Flora had strengthened their position a day earlier with a 2–1 win away to Harju Laagri.
Tammeka, meanwhile, remain ninth in the table – nine points ahead of bottom club Tallinna Kalev, but still trailing Kuressaare by two and Harju by five.
FCI Levadia vs Tartu JK Tammeka – 3:0 (2:0)
Goals: Wendell 15′ 44′, Ainsalu 56′
In Sunday’s late Premium Liiga fixture, a late penalty decided the tight encounter between Nõmme Kalju and Pärnu Vaprus, as Mattias Männilaan calmly converted from the spot to seal a 1–0 victory for the hosts.
The decisive moment came late in the match when Enrique Esono headed the ball toward goal, and it struck the arm of Virgo Vallik during an aerial duel. Play initially continued, but the VAR team advised referee Kristo Külljastinen to review the incident. After checking the monitor, Külljastinen pointed to the spot – a decision that ultimately handed Kalju all three points.
