Dutch striker Kyvon Leidsman (27) scored in both of Liepāja’s friendly wins over Jelgava on Friday as the Virslīga clubs played two matches in quick succession at the Liepāja Olympic Centre football hall.
Liepāja won the first game 2-1 after a goalless first half. Ivans Patrikejevs broke the deadlock, before Leidsman added a second 10 minutes later to secure the victory.
The hosts then completed a 3-0 win in the second match, starting at 14:15 local time, with all three goals coming in the first half. Leidsman was again on the scoresheet, punishing Jelgava in two different friendlies on the same day.
Amsterdam-born Leidsman joined Liepāja in the summer of 2024 and has nine goals and three assists in 43 Virslīga appearances to his name.
The 2026 Virslīga begins on 6th of March with RFS facing newcomers Ogre United. Liepāja open their league season the next day at home against Champions Riga FC.
