The hosts controlled possession from start to finish, but for much of the first half lacked the cutting edge to turn pressure into goals. Gauthier Mankenda caused constant problems for the Grobiņa defence and won a penalty in the 10th minute after a challenge from Maksims Sidorovs. The call was debatable, and goalkeeper Frenks Dāvids Orols kept the scores level by saving Marko Regža’s spot kick with his leg. Riga had more chances through Iago Siqueira, who twice failed to convert from close range, and Anthony Contreras, whose acrobatic attempt hit the crossbar.
