SK Super Nova has registered to their squad Latvian U-19 national team winger Emīls Sprukts, who returns to his home country after several years developing in European football academies.
The 18-year-old attacking talent is a product of the FK Metta youth system. In 2020, he made the leap abroad, joining the academy of Dutch side Roda JC, where he spent two years before continuing his journey in Belgium with KV Mechelen. Sprukts remained in the Belgian club’s system until this summer, gaining valuable experience in two of Europe’s well-known development environments.
Elite athleticism runs in the family. Emīls is the son of Jānis Sprukts, the legendary Latvian ice hockey player who captained the national team, earned 165 caps for Latvia, and played 14 games in the NHL. While his father made his name on the ice, Emīls is carving his own path on the pitch.
Internationally, Emīls has already represented Latvia at U17 and U19 levels, earning seven caps for the U19s, showcasing his potential and attacking instincts on the youth international stage.
Currently, SK Super Nova sits in 8th place in the Virslīga table with 18 points from 20 matches. And today might mark a special occasion for Sprukts — he is eligible to make his debut as Super Nova hosts FK Auda in a crucial league encounter.
