Latvia U-21 manager Jakub Dovalil has announced his squad for the September international window, with the team set to open their 2027 European Championship qualifying campaign away to Germany in Rostock on September 9.
The squad will gather for its first training session at the LNK Sports Park on September 1. A friendly against FK Tukums 2000 is scheduled for September 5, before the team departs for Germany on September 7.
Dovalil’s roster includes players from eight Latvian clubs, alongside representatives from Georgia, Ireland, Estonia, Italy, England, and Slovakia
Since taking charge, Dovalil has placed strong emphasis on blooding new talent. His debut in March brought a 2-0 victory over Lithuania, when no fewer than 16 players made their first U-21 appearances. Another five debutants followed in June’s friendly against Austria 0-1.
After the opener in Germany, Latvia will return home in October to face Georgia and Greece, before wrapping up the first half of the campaign in November with away trips to Northern Ireland and Malta.
The 2027 UEFA European U-21 Championship will be staged in Albania and Serbia, with only the group winners and the best second-placed team qualifying directly. The remaining second-placed teams will battle in play-offs for the final four tickets.
