Latvia’s National team will stage their next home international at LNK Sporta parks in Riga, Latvian Football Federation president Vadims Ļašenko announced during an official event at the complex on Saturday.
The fixture will come in the Baltic Cup, with Latvia due to play their semi-final away to Lithuania on 6 June. The Latvians will then return to Riga for their second match on 9 June at LNK Sporta parks, facing either Estonia or the Faroe Islands depending on the other semi-final. That match was originally scheduled to take place in Liepāja.
LNK Sporta parks has previously been used regularly by Latvia’s women’s national team, hosting matches on both artificial and natural pitches. In the Uefa Women’s Nations League last season, Latvia drew 1-1 with North Macedonia and 2-2 with Kosovo in games played on the venue’s natural surface.
Latvia’s men are set to play in Nations League C in the autumn, with a schedule that includes an away match in Armenia, home games against Cyprus and Montenegro, and a further trip to Cyprus.
However, LNK Sporta parks does not meet the requirements to host Nations League fixtures, with the Baltic Cup match being staged there as an exception to celebrate the opening of the next phase of the landmark private development by owners of FC RFS – LNK Industries.
The venue is also due to host the first major Riga derby of the domestic season on Tuesday evening, when league leaders RFS meet Riga at 20:00.
