The Latvian Football Federation has announced that the national team will play a friendly match away against North Macedonia on November 13 this year.

Just three days later, on November 16, Latvia will conclude its FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign with an away match against Serbia. The North Macedonia clash will serve as a final test against a familiar opponent before that crucial qualifier.

Latvian Football Federation president Vadims Ļašenko noted:
“We are delighted that ahead of the decisive match against Serbia we have arranged a friendly with a strong opponent whose playing style is similar. This game will be an important step in helping our team prepare as effectively as possible for the qualification challenge.”

Latvia has faced North Macedonia five times in the past, losing on every occasion. Ranked 62nd in the FIFA World Rankings, North Macedonia proved too strong in their most recent encounters during last year’s UEFA Nations League. Latvia fell 0–3 at home and 0–1 away in those fixtures.

Before the November friendly, Latvia still has two more international breaks on the calendar. In early September, the national team will host Serbia on September 6, followed by a trip to Albania on September 9.
