The Latvian national futsal team earned their second straight victory at the invitational tournament in Indonesia, defeating Tanzania 3-0 on Saturday.

Latvia struck early: after a slick passing move with Andžejs Mickēvičs and Edgars Tarakanovs, Viktors Kuļepovs netted his third goal of the competition. In the 13th minute, Tarakanovs broke through on an individual run, and though his effort was blocked, the rebound from Germans Matjušenko shot deflected off a Tanzanian defender into the net for 2-0. Just before halftime, Miks Babris extended the lead to three after a clever assist from Matjušenko.

Despite several good chances in the second half, the scoreline remained unchanged.

Earlier in the tournament, Latvia opened with a 3-2 win over the Netherlands, while hosts Indonesia thrashed Tanzania 7-1. The decisive final match comes on Sunday, when Latvia face Indonesia, currently ranked 23rd in the world. By comparison, the Netherlands sit 28th, Latvia are 60th, and Tanzania are back in 138th.

The tournament serves for manager Massimiliano Bellarte as crucial preparation for the UEFA Futsal Euro finals, to be staged in Rīga, Kaunas, and Ljubljana from January 20 to February 7.
