Latvian goalkeeper Vjačeslavs Kudrjavcevs has signed a contract with the German Regionalliga club 1. FC Phönix Lübeck.
The 26-year-old goalkeeper was the starting keeper last season for FS Jelgava in the Virslīga, where he made 32 appearances. Despite the team’s struggles, finishing last in the league and conceding 73 goals, Kudrjavcevs achieved seven clean sheets.
“I am very happy about my move to Germany and excited to be part of Phönix Lübeck. The club’s ambitions appealed to me, and I want to help the team,” says Kudrjavcevs.
Sports director and managing director Frank Salomon explained the decision to sign Vjačeslavs: “We monitored the transfer market on deadline day until the last minute and were prepared to act if the right opportunity arose. Due to Carl Leonhard’s injury, we recognized a need for action in the goalkeeper position and successfully signed Vjačeslavs.”
Previously Vjačeslavs had only played abroad in Poland, where he represented Legia Warszawa’s second team, Stomil Olsztyn, and Widzew Łódź. He is now adding Germany to his list of countries played in, as he joins Phönix Lübeck, which currently sits in ninth place in the Regionalliga, the fourth tier of German football.
