A Lyga side DFK Dainava Alytus has announced that their manager, Sergey Kuznetsov, has left the club following the defeat against FC Džiugas Telšiai.
The 45-year-old manager had been in charge since May 2022. In his first season, he successfully led the team back to the Lithuanian top flight and achieved the club’s highest-ever finish last season, placing 4th in the A Lyga.
However, this season has been challenging for the team. After ten league games, they remain the only team without a win, earning just two points and sitting eight points behind their closest rivals, FK Riteriai and FK Paņevežys. Following today’s 0-2 loss to Džiugas Telšiai, Kuznetsov announced his decision to step down as manager, prompting Dainava to begin the search for his replacement.
During his tenure with Alytus, Kuznetsov managed the team for 76 matches in the Lithuanian top flight, with a record of 16 wins, 21 draws, and 39 losses. In their statement, Dainava expressed their sincere gratitude to the coach for his years of work, dedication, professionalism, and significant contributions to the club’s history.
