GKS Katowice, currently in tenth place in the Polish Ekstraklasa after the first half of the season, has officially confirmed that the Estonian national team center-back Märten Kuusk has extended his contract with the club.
Kuusk first joined Katowice a year ago when they were still competing in the Polish second division. His new contract will run until the end of June 2027, giving him another two and a half years with the team. So far, Kuusk has made 27 appearances for Katowice, including 14 matches this season, during which he has provided two assists.
“I am very happy to be able to stay in Katowice longer,” Kuusk expressed in the club’s press release. “I feel very comfortable after the year I spent at the club, and my teammates are very supportive. Together, we secured promotion to the Ekstraklasa, and I believe we can continue to demonstrate what we are capable of.”
The 28-year-old has also represented the Estonian national team 33 times. He missed the last national team window in November due to a minor ankle injury but returned to the field at the end of the month and reclaimed his place in the starting lineup for the last match before the winter break.
Katowice will resume their league in two weeks when they host Stal Mielec. The team is currently in a training camp in Turkey.
