Today, Estonian players in various leagues wrapped up their seasons. Märten Kuusk played the full match for Katowice in a victory, while Dimitri Jepihhin’s club secured their place in the Slovakian top division for another season. Additionally, Estonian players’ clubs concluded their campaigns in Romania and Slovenia.
Estonian international Märten Kuusk’s home club GKS Katowice ended their Polish Ekstraklasa season with a thrilling 3–2 away victory over Lechia Gdańsk. Trailing 1–2 in the second half, Katowice mounted a late comeback by scoring two goals within a ten-minute span to secure all three points.
Kuusk played his fourth consecutive full match as Katowice secured eighth place in the league standings.
This marked Kuusk’s first full season with the club, during which he made 27 league appearances, scored one goal, and provided one assist — further cementing his role as a key defender for Katowice.
Slovakia
Meanwhile Estonian winger Dimitri Jepihhin’s club AS Trenčín secured their place in the Slovak Super Liga after a tense relegation playoff against Zlaté Moravce. The two-legged tie started with a 1-1 draw away, where Jepihhin played the first half before being substituted at halftime. He did not feature in the decisive second leg, but Trenčín’s 4-2 home victory ensured a 5-3 aggregate win, keeping them in the top division.
Jepihhin, who signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with Trenčín in the winter transfer window, made ten league appearances and scored twice in the first half of the season as he settled into Slovak football.
Romania
Midfielder Mattias Käit was not included in the squad as Rapid București played out a 2-2 away draw against Universitatea Cluj in the final round of the Romanian Liga I season. Rapid currently sit fifth in the league table, but if Bucharest rivals Dinamo defeat Universitatea Craiova in their last match, Rapid will drop to sixth place to end the season. Either way, Rapid will miss out on European competition next season.
Käit completed the season with 27 appearances, contributing two goals and one assist for Rapid.
Slovenia
Following last weekend’s confirmation of the Slovenian league title, Alex Matthias Tamm’s club Ljubljana Olimpija wrapped up their season with a 0-0 draw away at Bravo.
Olimpija head coach Victor Sanchez made five substitutions in the second half, but Tamm watched the final match from the bench. The Estonian national team striker, who joined Olimpija midseason, finished the league campaign with six goals and two assists in 12 appearances.
Norway
Rocco Robert Shein came off the bench in Norway’s top division as Fredrikstad suffered a narrow 3-4 away defeat to Bryne. Shein was subbed on in the 77th minute, with his team trailing 2-4.
Fredrikstad managed to pull one back in the 88th minute, but couldn’t find an equalizer in the remaining minutes. The loss marked Fredrikstad’s second defeat of the season, alongside five wins and one draw, leaving them in fourth place in the league standings.
