Kuressaare will be without leading attacker Rasmus Talu for the next few months after the 18-year-old suffered a broken collarbone in their latest Premium liiga fixture.
Talu was injured in the 54th minute of the home match against Nõmme Kalju following contact with Kalju midfielder Oleksandr Musolitin, landing heavily on his shoulder. He left the pitch soon afterwards with an ice pack and later received the diagnosis, which has required surgery.
“It felt like a fairly harmless situation,” Talu said. “There was a normal foul on me and I started to fall towards the ball, but I tried to avoid it and landed on my shoulder. When I hit the ground I immediately heard a crack and felt that something had happened. I didn’t know straight away what it was, but I felt I couldn’t continue.”
Kuressaare announced in the winter that they had agreed a three-year contract with Talu after he scored 15 goals in the Esiliiga last season. Head coach Sander Post has made him a regular this term, starting 11 of the opening 12 league rounds, with two goals and three assists – the best attacking return in the Kuressaare squad.
