Minnesota United FC 2, the reserve side of MLS club Minnesota United FC, have announced the signing of Latvian goalkeeper Kristers Bite to a two-year MLS Next Pro contract.

The 19-year-old goalkeeper previously represented FK Auda. During the 2025 season, Bite spent the first half of the campaign on loan at FK Metta before returning to Auda. Across the season, he made five appearances in the Latvian Virslīga.

Now, the young goalkeeper continues his career in the United States, making the move across the Atlantic to join Minnesota United’s development side.

“We are very excited to welcome Kristers Bite to MNUFC2. He is a goalkeeper who aligns with our identity, has strong fundamentals, a competitive mindset, and the drive to improve daily,” said MNUFC2 goalkeeper coach Cristiano Costa. “We’re looking forward to helping him take the next step in his development.”

“I am very excited and proud to join this team here in Minnesota. It is a big step in my career, and I’m ready to work hard every day to help the club succeed,” said goalkeeper Kristers Bite. “I’m grateful to the club for their trust and giving me this opportunity. I also want to thank my family, my previous coaches, and everyone who has supported me along the way; their belief and guidance have helped me reach this moment. I’m looking forward to getting started and giving my all for the team.”

At international level, Bite has earned 10 caps for Latvia’s U-19 national team.

MLS Next Pro features 30 clubs, 27 of which are affiliated with MLS first teams. The new league season is set to begin on February 28, in four days’ time.
