Toplyga champions Kauno Žalgiris have announced the signing of Argentine midfielder Franco Baldassarra as they continue to add to their squad following a winning start to the 2026 season.
The 27-year-old arrives from Buenos Aires side Platense, where he won an Argentine top-flight title last year after helping the club take the Apertura – one of the officially recognised league championships awarded in the 2025 season. That success also secured Platense a place in the Copa Libertadores.
Baldassarra has made more than 100 appearances in Argentina’s top division since joining Platense in 2019, scoring five goals and providing three assists.
He also has European experience, having spent the 2023-24 season on loan at Greek Super League club Panetolikos, where he played 17 matches and scored once.
Baldassarra, who holds both Argentine and Italian citizenship, has already arrived in Lithuania and passed his medical. He will wear the number 32 shirt at Kauno Žalgiris.
