Kauno Žalgiris began their winter training camp in Turkey with a narrow defeat, losing 2-1 to Kazakhstan side Zhenis in Antalya.

Eivinas Černiauskas’ team had the better openings in a tight first half but went in behind after Zhenis scored in the 27th minute, finishing a delivery from the flank following an aerial duel.

Kauno Žalgiris took control after the break and levelled in the 53rd minute when Yukiyoshi Karashima struck a low effort from outside the box after a corner was cleared.

The Lithuanian Champions then missed a series of chances to pull ahead, with Leo Ribeiro denied in a quick move, Motiejus Burba hitting the woodwork and Amine Benchaib seeing a close-range effort kept out.

Zhenis regained the lead late on, punishing a misplaced pass at the back to secure the win.
