Kauno Žalgiris new signing Yukiyoshi Karashima marked his first appearance for the club with a goal in a pre-season friendly, opening the score in what would become a 4-0 rout of the Marijampole side.
The Japanese midfielder, who has previously played for FK Žalgiris and RFS, in Latvia, struck in his opening outing in green and white as Kauno Žalgiris continued their winter preparations.
After the match, Karashima said the early games were as much about building relationships as results, adding that today’s friendly was primarily to allow the squad to “understand each other even better” and less about any tactical developments.
In terms of his adaptation being back in Lithuania but now with Kauno Žalgiris, he noted that: “teammates are amazing […] I already feel like home“. Summarising the 4-0 win over Sūduva, who Kaunas did not manage to overcome even once in 2025 (playing three draws and losing twice, including in the Cup), Karashima concluded that he “did good“.
