Kalju have extended the contract of veteran centre-back Maksim Podholjuzin, keeping the 33-year-old at the club until at least the end of the 2027 Premium liiga season. Podholjuzin has been a key figure in Kalju’s back line in recent campaigns and is regarded as one of the dressing-room leaders, with the club highlighting his consistency and composure.
Podholjuzin said he was motivated for the seasons ahead. “I’m happy about extending my contract,” he told club media. “I’m grateful to the club management, coaches, the team and everyone who has trusted and supported me on this path. There’s a lot of work ahead, new goals and challenges. I’m ready to give my maximum for the team, the club and our fans.”
Podholjuzin was named on the Premium liiga Best XI of 2025 by Baltic Football News. In total, he had played 449 Premium liiga matches, placing him 7th on the competition’s all-time appearances list, just behind Tarmo Neemelo. During this time, he distinguished himself by winning the league three times, the Cup five times, and the Super Cup twice.
