Lithuanian national team player Tomas Kalinauskas continues to make headlines in Sweden’s second division. Today, the 25-year-old winger led Kalmar FF to a 2-1 victory over Örebro, contributing with both a goal and an assist.

Since joining Kalmar FF on loan from English League One side Burton Albion at the start of August, Kalinauskas has been in sparkling form. In just eight league appearances prior to today, he had already scored three goals and provided two assists.

Against Örebro, he once again proved decisive. In the 22nd minute, Kalinauskas met a low cross from the right inside the penalty area and calmly slotted the ball into the net to give his team the lead. Early in the second half, he turned provider – his corner delivery was expertly headed home by Malcolm Stolt, doubling Kalmar’s advantage.

Although Örebro managed to pull one back later in the match, Kalmar held firm, extending their unbeaten run that stretches back to June 22. With this win, the club remains in second place, which would guarantee automatic promotion to Sweden’s top flight if they can hold their position over the final five rounds of the season.

Kalinauskas has now tallied four goals and three assists in nine league games, underlining his importance as Kalmar push for promotion. The team’s next challenge comes this Saturday, when they travel to face Brage.
