Tallinna Kalev’s reserve team will play its home matches at Jüri Stadium next season, while the first team will compete in the Esiliiga at Sportland Arena.

Sportland Arena was effectively confirmed early on as the venue for the senior side. According to club CEO Greeg Jakobson, there were few viable alternatives available. Last season, both the first and reserve teams used Sportland Arena.

This year, however, the situation has changed following the first team’s relegation from the top flight and the reserve side’s drop to Esiliiga B. Jakobson confirmed that the reserve team will play its first and last matches of the season at Raja Hall, with mid-season fixtures scheduled for the newly opened Jüri Stadium, which was built in 1980 and renovated last August. It is located south-east of Tallinn, just beyond the ring road in the direction of Paide.

Club president Ragnar Klavan acknowledged that options were limited for both squads. Kalev’s Central Stadium artificial pitch does not meet the required certification standards for league matches. By contrast, Jüri offers new artificial turf and strong facilities. As Esiliiga B has lower infrastructure requirements than the Esiliiga, the venue meets the necessary criteria.

Klavan attended the opening of Jüri Stadium and described it as an impressive facility and the Estonian Football Association has granted Kalev’s reserve team a special permit to use the ground for league matches.
