Czech forward Tomáš Rataj has completed a transfer from Slezský FC Opava to Latvian side FS Jelgava the Czech club announces.
The 22-year-old striker came through Opava’s academy and made his senior debut in 2020. Over his time with the first team, he registered 119 competitive appearances and scored nine goals across all competitions.
During the current season in Czech football, Rataj featured in five matches for Opava but did not score. His role was more limited compared to previous campaigns, in which he was used more regularly as part of the attacking rotation.
Earlier in his career, Rataj also had a loan spell in Norway with FK Bodø/Glimt. He made two appearances for Bodø/Glimt’s first team during the 2021 season, gaining experience outside the Czech league system.
Standing 1.87 metres tall and operating primarily as a centre-forward. FS Jelgava will play their opening game of the 2026 Virslīga season in 8th of March when they will host FK Tukums 2000.
