In the Polish Ekstraklasa, Alvis Jaunzems scored his first goal of the season, but his team, Stal Mielec, could not secure an important three points as they played to a 2-2 draw against Zaglebie Lubin.

The 25-year-old Latvian national team player started for the third consecutive game. Stal Mielec has not won a match since February 7, when they defeated the defending champions, Jagiellonia. They are now battling to avoid relegation and were five points behind Lechia Gdansk, the last team safe from the drop in the league table, prior to this match.

In the first half, Stal fell behind when Dawid Kurminowski scored for Zaglebie. However, in the second half, Stal equalized thanks to Jaunzems. He received a pass from his teammate and quickly moved in front of the goal, scoring from very close range.

Ten minutes later, Stal took the lead with a beautiful long-range strike by Dadok, but their celebration was short-lived as an own goal by a Stal player tied the game at 2-2 just one minute later.

In the end, the match concluded with Stal Mielec, despite dominant statistics throughout the game, remaining winless in their last ten outings. After 30 games, Stal has accumulated 26 points and is currently 17th in the league table, just four points from safety.

Their next match will be a tough challenge, as they are set to host league leaders Rakow on Saturday.
