Winger Eligijus Jankauskas today scored for the second consecutive match in Israel’s second division, helping Hapoel Ironi Rishon secure a 3-2 away victory over Hapoel Kfar Shalem.

The 27-year-old, who finished last season as the top scorer in the Lithuanian championship, made his first start for Hapoel Ironi Rishon since joining the club. After netting his first league goal in Israel in the previous round, Jankauskas added to his tally with the decisive strike in the 79th minute.

The Lithuanian attacking player reacted quickest to a rebound inside the penalty area, finishing from close range after the goalkeeper had parried the initial effort, sealing the win for his side.

This was Jankauskas’ fourth league appearance for the club, having come off the bench in his first three matches. Following the victory, Hapoel Ironi Rishon moved up to fourth place in the table with 34 points from 23 matches.
