Lithuanian national team goalkeeper Edvinas Gertmonas has caught the attention of several Italian clubs following a standout season in Romania. Currently playing for Universitatea Cluj, the 28-year-old is reportedly on the radar of Serie B side Bari, one of a few Italian teams expressing concrete interest.
Since joining the Transylvanian outfit last March, Gertmonas has been a wall between the posts, significantly boosting his market value. This season, the Lithuanian national team goalkeeper has made 33 appearances in the Romanian top-flight, keeping a clean sheet 11 times. Romanian media suggest his time in Cluj may be nearing its end, with club insiders acknowledging the likelihood of a summer exit.
“Edvinas is a highly skilled goalkeeper, and he’s proven his quality in the Romanian league,” a club source told clujenii.ro. “He’s a tough character, a consummate professional, and it’s no surprise that he’s constantly drawing interest from top leagues.”
Cluj are reportedly unable to match the financial firepower of their Italian counterparts, leaving the door open for a summer transfer. The keeper has already received several offers from Serie B, with Bari emerging as one of the frontrunners.
“We’ve recently received a few financially attractive proposals,” the insider shared with prosport.ro. “While Transfermarkt lists his value at €1.2 million, we all know that market reality and online estimates don’t always align. Of the three solid offers from Serie B, one is from Bari. We’re expecting at least €500,000 for the transfer—regardless of the buyer.”
Currently sitting eighth in the Serie B table, Bari are positioned to compete in the promotion playoffs for a spot in Serie A.
