Estonia have named their squad for the women’s national team’s final camp of the year, which will conclude with a friendly against Lithuania next week. Head coach Aleksandra Ševoldajeva confirmed the line-up, noting several absences and a handful of potential debutants.
Midfielders Liisa Merisalu, Sandra Pärn, Jaanika Volkov, and Emma Treiberg miss out for health reasons, while Evelyn Šilina, Inna Kiss-Zlidnis, Katriin Saulus, Kirkeliis Lillemets, Lisette Tammik, and Keiti Kruusmann are unavailable due to personal commitments. First-time call-ups include Anni Iiris Ilisson, Liis Getter Saar, and Nicole Kelli.
Ševoldajeva said the decision to play one friendly instead of two was influenced by the players’ academic workload, a long domestic season, and various illnesses. “The season has been long, and there are several factors that make it necessary to manage workloads wisely,” she explained. “Playing one match allows us to add an extra training session and take the first steps in preparing for next year’s qualification matches. It’s also a chance to involve some of the U19 players who have impressed recently.”
The squad will gather on Monday, 24 November, with the friendly against Lithuania kicking off at 15:30 on Saturday, 29 November, at Viimsi Football and Athletics Hall. Tickets are available via the Estonian Football Association (EJL) website and Piletilevi, with the match broadcast live on Soccernet TV’s YouTube channel.
Estonia and Lithuania have met 31 times, with Estonia winning 15 and drawing eight. Their most recent encounter came in last year’s Baltic Cup semi-final, where a 2–2 draw in normal time was followed by Estonia’s 3–1 victory on penalties.
