Latvian forward Dāvis Ikaunieks ended his Singapore Premier League season on a high, scoring twice to power Brunei’s DPMM FC to a dramatic 3–2 victory over Hougang United in their final league match of the year.
The 31-year-old leveled the match at 1–1 in the 33rd minute and struck again just after the break in the 46th to give DPMM a 2–1 advantage. After Hougang pulled level at 2–2, Ikaunieks was substituted in the 76th minute — and just one minute later, Portuguese attacker Miguel Oliveira netted the game-winning goal to seal all three points.
Ikaunieks finishes the league campaign with a blistering 14 goals in 14 appearances since arriving in Southeast Asia, establishing himself as one of the league’s most lethal finishers.
With the victory, DPMM concludes their Premier League season with 44 points from 32 matches, securing a top-five finish. Their attention now shifts to the Singapore Cup, where they face Lion City Sailors in the second leg of the semifinal this Tuesday, aiming to book their place in the final.
