Kauno Žalgiris made the most of the international break with a thrilling 3-2 friendly win away to Jagiellonia in Białystok.

Eivinas Černiauskas’ side went ahead in the second minute when Davis Ikaunieks finished after Fedor Černych’s assist, but the hosts responded quickly with Yukiyoshi Karashima forces to concede own goal. Ikaunieks then restored Kauno Žalgiris’ lead just before the half-hour mark with an overhead kick after he had earlier sent another chance wide.

Jagiellonia, whose line-up was made up of players from the first team and reserves, levelled again in the 35th minute with a well-taken free-kick. Kauno Žalgiris regained the advantage on the stroke of half-time when Franco Baldassarra was brought down in the penalty area and Amine Benchaib converted the spot-kick.

There were fewer openings after the break and the score remained unchanged, allowing Kauno Žalgiris to close out the win. Nigerian newcomer Al-Amin Khaleed also made his debut for the club.
